Paula Radcliffe brings Families on Track initiative to Tyneside for 2022 TRY on the Tyne

Last week, athletics legend Paula Radcliffe launched this year’s TRY on the Tyne multi-sports event, which will include her family athletics initiative for the first time. Paula’s Families on Track gives family teams the opportunity to work together to complete 10K in a relay, all on a safe, enclosed course. The event will make its debut on Tyneside this year when it will provide the finale to the 2022 TRY on the Tyne, which will bring senior and junior duathlons (run-bike-run races) and a 5K run to the Newcastle and Gateshead quaysides, all on Saturday 13 August.

Paula’s Families on Track will take over Baltic Square, where a special enclosed course will be created for participants. Launched in 2019, Paula’s Families on Track has been a huge hit wherever it has been held. This will be the first time it has been hosted on Tyneside and the location is set to provide a stunning setting for participants and spectators alike. Paula visited Newcastle and Gateshead last thursday to catch up with two councils that are both supporting the event, along with new event partner Northumbria University and the TRY on the Tyne team. Paula had a look at the new Families on Track site and tested out a shortened version of the course with her children and other families who plan to take part in August.
