We are delighted to announce COCO as our charity partner for the Cintra Try on the Tyne 2020! The charity organises many fundraising challenges and Try on the Tyne is the next addition to their 2020 events calendar. The event this year includes a BRAND NEW Sprint and Super-Sprint Triathlon, as well as a returning Sprint Duathlon, and 5K and 10K runs. There will also be a Junior 2K and Junior Duathlon, so no-one will be left out! Keep reading to find out more about the charity and how you can get involved and fundraise for them.

COCO was founded by Steve Cram CBE in 2000, and since then has positively impacted the lives of over 200,000 people. They are based in Newcastle upon Tyne and work with remote communities across East Africa to provide sustainable sources of quality education to marginalised children, through their Schools for Life programme. One of the core elements of this programme is sport, so that children have time to have fun while learning social skills, building confidence and nurturing talent. 2020 marks the charity’s 20th anniversary of supporting projects in East Africa and partnering with Try on the Tyne is the perfect way to celebrate!

Lucy Kendall, CEO of COCO, comments: “COCO is delighted to be the official charity partner of Cintra TRY on the Tyne. Participation in sports events has always been an important aspect of our fundraising activities, so it’s really exciting to be involved in something new that’s on the doorstep for so many of our supporters.”

Try on the Tyne takes place on the 22nd August and following the event, on the 23rd August Paula’s Families on track will take place for the first time in Newcastle in Leazes Park. This fun family fitness concept debuted in 2019 and consists of a 10km continuous relay, split into laps of 1km, 500m, and 250m. As a family of 3-5 members, you decide who does what and how many times, then cross the finish line together once you have completed 10km.
