“Try on the Tyne was a great experience for me and I am very pleased with how I performed in my first 10K race! The information beforehand was excellent so I knew what to expect when I arrived.
When the race began, the course was well signposted with lots of encouraging marshals ad spectators to keep us going. The route itself was relatively flat with only a few gradual climbs, meaning it was perfect for all abilities. I felt like it was just enough challenge without it being uncomfortable. With the finish line in sight, the streets were full of cheering family and friends who all spurred you on until the end. I enjoyed my final sprint to try and beat a gun time of 52 minutes (which I only just missed out on) and then was rewarded immediately with a medal, tshirt and bag of goodies (the coconut chocolate bites and Rubicon Watermelon Drink were my favourite!)
The communication continued to be great as I received my chip time in less than five minutes by text, and a link to the results page and by email shortly afterwards. I would definitely come back to the event and recommend it to others, especially beginners. It’s great to have a scenic and accessible race right along the banks of the Tyne”
