“The heat has been exhausting!”

It’s been non-stop for EOTN ambassador Lynn in the last few weeks of training for Try on the Tyne! Her blog is here:

“Just 2 weeks to go and the event is fast approaching and training isn’t going exactly to plan. I just spent two weeks cycling 300 miles down the Danube with my husband. Long, slow days in the saddle in 35 degrees. So good endurance training with the opportunity of doing some effort sessions and runs off the bike, waiting for my husband to catch up.

I did try to do a few runs but the heat was exhausting so meant getting out about 5.30 am before it got hot. Some good training last weekend and did Woodhorn Museum Sprint Triathlon, although the swim was longer than it should be still managed to finish 2nd for my Age Group- Vintage Vet. So a podium and another cup to add to my collection.

We cycled from South Shields to Beamish on Sunday, but a gentle 50 mile social ride and chatted all the way. I am doing some faster training tomorrow so fingers crossed it goes well. Running has been a bit of a problem in as much as my arthritis has been really painful after the cycling holiday. Training is just ticking by but hopefully it will have improved in the next couple of weeks. Had a couple of club races and then did the LGBT relay on Friday as Team Disney Dreamers , Queen of hearts, Esmerelda and Cruella. Off now for a nice little run round Hepscott.

See you all soon and hope your training is going well. Remember to keep well hydrated in this heat.
