Cintra Try on the Tyne returns for 2020!

With a NEW Family Focused Fitness Event

Join in the summer of sport when you come and TRY our fabulous event on the stunning NewcastleGateshead Quayside! As well as returning favourites of the 5K, 10K, Sprint Duathlon and Junior events, this year we have a BRAND NEW Sprint and Super-Sprint Triathlon on Saturday 22nd August. Starting with a swim in Leazes Park Lake, followed by a bike route through the city centre and finishing this iconic course with a run along the Newcastle Gateshead Quayside. The runs and duathlon start in Baltic Square in Gateshead, taking in a selection of the Tyne’s famous bridges, all on completely closed roads.

There is something for everyone, from those beginning their triathlon journey, to those chasing a PB in the runs, with a sprint duathlon to complete the exciting events on offer. We are also delighted to announce that Paula’s Families on Track powered by Atom Bank will also be taking place on Sunday 23rd August.  Don’t miss this innovative new running concept.

    • Electronic chip timing
    • Fully closed roads
    • T-shirt, medal and goody-bag for all finishers
    • FREE finisher photos
    TRIATHLON

Super Sprint or Sprint - A Super-sprint triathlon involves a 400m swim, a 10k bike section and then a 3km run, while the distances in a Sprint triathlon are 750m, 20k and 5k. The swim will be in Leazes Park, and the bike route will go through the city centre and continue onto the quayside, giving all the opportunity to TRY a Tri in an inspiring location.

    DUATHLON

Sprint - Closed roads give you the opportunity to TRY a duathlon beginning with a 5k run, 20k bike and 3K run. The stunning city backdrop and iconic quayside location should inspire everyone, with a mass start in Baltic Square creating a fantastic atmosphere.

    RUN

5K or 10K - this is your chance to TRY the distance for the first time, or maybe improve your best so far on this exciting course. Run with friends and celebrate with brunch afterwards! Its flat, fast and the crowds will cheer you the whole way.

    2019 Ambassadors
I was so excited when I heard the event was taking place on our very own iconic Newcastle Quayside and had decided to take part in the Sprint Duathlon. To be chosen to be an ambassador was the icing on the cake.
I started running because it was just an easy and cheap way to keep fit on top of other exercise I was doing like boxing and circuits classes. Try on the Tyne will be my first official 10K race.
Hi, I am Sophie and I am a Physiotherapist. As a keen competitive amateur runner, I love to challenge myself regularly and see how far I can push myself!!!

    Events Of The North

Have you heard about Families On Track, an event in association with Paula Radcliffe ?

We are wanting to get more parents and children in to exercise and this event is just the way to do it!!

    Did you know...
    - only 22% of parents spend time exercising and being active
    - 49% of parents spend their leisure time watching TV with their children
    - one in six UK parents never exercise with their children

Well the whole exercise and parenting thing... we totally get it!! It’s amazing but bloody exhausting being a parent, you don’t to have to tell us!

But as difficult as it might feel to get up and out the door, even for a walk, you will feel so much better for it. Promise!

Exercise encourages endorphins, those ‘happy hormones’ and can increase energy levels, mood and efficiency. The sense of personal achievement alone, accomplishing something you weren’t fully committed too can improve your general mental health and wellbeing. That’s for you and your children! #mentalhealthawareness

Why not give yourself some motivation... Families On Track is an event the entire family can take part in together! No childminders necessary! Your family is your team and you decide who runs what distance. Check out our video below for more information and sign up to any of our 3 locations; Durham City Run Festival Worcester City Run NOW and next week entries open for Try on the Tyne
